It is surrounded by the sea on three sides, which works as a great natural air conditioner, softening the climate in dry years, and the wind reduces significantly the risk of fungal vine diseases. There are mostly French and Italian grape varieties, but also some experimental vineyards with Alvarinho, Timorasso and Tempranillo, Pinotage and local Telti-Kuruk.
Mykolaiv region:
Mykolaiv wine region has vineyards of 15 thousand ha. It belongs to the wider Black Sea Wine region which is made up of Odessa, Kherson and Mykolaiv itself. Warm and moderately humid autumn enables the normal development and ripeness of grapes and dry periods before harvesting allow to obtain high-quality grapes.
