Winemaker’s notes:
Rkatsiteli is a common grape variety of the Black Sea shores. The grape ripens well and gives beautiful wines. Beykush Rkatsiteli has aged in a 400-litre Spanish ceramic amphora. Total production of 2021 harvest was only 1300 bottles of wine.
Characteristics:
Beautiful and aromatic orange wine made 100% of Rkatsiteli grapes. The taste has hints of honey, nuts, ripe quince, yellow plums, apricot and dried apricots.
Food pairing:
A wonderful aperitif. Beykush Orange Rkatsiteli wine pairs beautifully with curry, roasted lamb and traditional Japanese food. Serving temperature: 10-14°C/50-57F.
Beykush Winery:
Beykush Winery, the most award-winning winery in Ukraine, is lying on 11-hectare plot on the Beykush peninsula of the Black Sea. It is surrounded by the sea on three sides, which works as a great natural air conditioner, softening the climate in dry years, and the wind reduces significantly the risk of fungal vine diseases. There are mostly French and Italian grape varieties, but also some experimental vineyards with Alvarinho, Timorasso and Tempranillo, Pinotage and local Telti-Kuruk.
Mykolaiv region:
Mykolaiv wine region has vineyards of 15 thousand ha. It belongs to the wider Black Sea Wine region which is made up of Odessa, Kherson and Mykolaiv itself. The climate in the region is warm in the summer and mild in the winter. Warm and moderately humid autumn enables the normal development and ripeness of grapes and dry periods before harvesting allow to obtain high-quality grapes.
